We are pleased to announce that The Natural Step Foundation in the Netherlands (TNS-NL) has officially reopened under license from The Natural Step International (TNSi), and with an improved governance structure.
After a thorough investigation over the summer by a dedicated TNSi committee, involving key stakeholders, including (former) associates, (former) board members, legal experts, etc., and following an internal process, in accordance with the TNSi statutes and council member involvement, we are confident in the capacities of the new leadership team and excited for the opportunities they intend to explore in The Netherlands.
Following a challenging period that culminated in bankruptcy earlier this year, Suzanne Wacanno, who has been an integral part of the Dutch team for over 12 years, was awarded by a court-appointed curator to acquire the assets and continue its operations. TNSi’s decision is aligned with the curator’s assessment, supporting Mrs. Wacanno and her core team in restarting the office under a new legal entity but with the old name, ensuring continuity for our clients and partners.
Importantly, we want to clarify that Stichting The Natural Step Nederland (https://thenaturalstep.nl) is the sole legal representative of TNS in the Netherlands. It will receive full support from other TNS offices globally, working together to provide seamless services and continue to serve both local and international clients, providing trusted guidance and solutions to drive impactful sustainable transition.
