On Wednesday 3 February, The King attended The Natural Step’s ‘The Future of Leadership is Now’ seminar at Färgfabriken in Stockholm.

During the seminar, discussions were held on how to succeed in involving the management of various businesses and organisations in working systematically and strategically for a sustainable future.

Anna Borgeryd, owner and chair of the bakery Polarbröd, gave an opening address and then presented StegVis, a network for sustainable enterprise launched in 2014 by The Natural Step. StegVis acts as a forum where businesses can be inspired, share their experiences and develop new solutions.

Johan Rockström from the Stockholm Resilience Center then spoke about why individual organisations need a global perspective.

Robert Rubenstein, founder of the Triple Bottom Line Group, a Dutch NGO that works for sustainable financial systems, spoke about how the current financial system undermines sustainability.

Göran Broman and Karl-Henrik Robèrt from Blekinge Institute of Technology then rounded off the morning by speaking about how research into sustainable development and the StegVis methodology can be converted into practical leadership.
