The Natural Step Canada is a dynamic charitable organization that is helping Canadian municipal and business leaders to transform their organizations and lead their communities toward sustainability. We provide education, training, coaching and advice to leaders and decision-makers. We help them see the opportunities. We help them take action. And we help them bring about real, long-term change.

Over the last six years, we have trained 25,000 sustainability practitioners and worked with 250 organizations, supporting hundreds of senior executives, community leaders to become sustainability role models and ambassadors at large. Our work has led to green building codes, sustainability filters for capital investments, sustainable purchasing practices, sustainable product design, zero-waste policies, and carbon neutrality strategies, among other successes. We have contributed to thousands of steps toward sustainability—large and small -- from coast to coast, as you can see in our exciting video.

Our efforts to advance sustainability in Canada are focused on three main strategies: Inspire, Educate, Connect.

Inspire - We inspire existing and emerging leaders to act, using best practices and success stories to demonstrate that change is necessary and possible. You can read our past newsletters and explore our free toolkits here.

Educate - We equip those leaders with high-quality education, training and advice on concrete, practical sustainable development planning and implementation. Read more about our learning programs and our capacity-building projects.

Connect - We connect sustainability leaders, innovators and practitioners to each other to enable peer learning and collaboration, and to foster a movement for change. You can read more about some of these leaders here.

Canada still needs more leaders and change agents. As an enterprising charity, The Natural Step relies on grants and donations to support our leadership programs with communities, NGOs and students. You can donate securely online through Canada Helps. You can also send a cheque (made payable to “The Natural Step Canada”), to our office at 355 Waverley St., Ottawa, ON, K2P 0W4. All donations above $20 are tax deductible.

As a Monthly Sustaining Donor, your ongoing support allows TNS to make the best use of your donation over the long run:

• A gift of $100 per month allows The Natural Step to provide scholarships to two deserving local sustainability champions to enroll in our intensive Sustainability for Leaders courses;
• A gift of $50 per month allows The Natural Step expert sustainability advisors to provide five free hours of coaching to an organization as they develop a sustainability action plan;
• A gift of $10 per month allows The Natural Step to enroll two emerging sustainability leaders in our online sustainability course free of charge.

We understand that these are hard economic times, and that a monetary donation may not be possible at this time. We invite you to support the work of The Natural Step in whatever way you can – including inviting TNS to deliver a presentation or workshop in your business or community, or providing in-kind professional services.
